For most people, with aging comes wrinkles. Many people will try all sorts of creams, treatments and methods to smooth wrinkles. However, there’s only a handful of ways to smooth wrinkles that have been proven effective to work.
Everyone knows sun damage is bad for your skin. Wearing sunscreen can help prevent wrinkles, as well as help already set wrinkles recover from skin damage. You can protect yourself from wrinkles by paying attention to your sleep position. Try sleeping on your back, as sleeping on your stomach or side cause your face to be smashed up against your pillow and bed for long hours ata time over many years. Reduce the amount of facial expressions and facial exercises. Manipulating your face muscles over time causes face lines to develop into wrinkles.
If you smoke, stop. If don’t smoke, don’t start. Smoking allows toxins to enter your body that cause premature aging at a rapid pace. With smoking your skin will become leathery, dry and cracked which all make fine lines on the face to appear deeper and more often. Your diet may be contributing to your wrinkles. Eating healthy (more fruits, vegetables and protein) is proven to have a positive impact on skin appearance.
Choose Skincare Products with Anti-Aging, Anti-Wrinkling Properties
Moisturize your skin with products that contain retinoids. Scientific studies have shown that ingredients such as retinol, retinyl, or retinoic acid, alpha hydroxy acids, azelaic acid, hydroquinone, kojic acid, peptides, and salicylic acid are effective at treating signs of aging skin. Retinoid acid (Retin-A) products are only prescribed by a dermatologist. Be sure to ask your dermatologist for recommendations for over-the-counter products that contain retinoid ingredients and may be just as effective. Note that skincare products must be used consistently over a period of time to see positive results and should be used continuously to maintain the results.
Non-Surgical and Surgical Methods to Smooth Wrinkles
Sometimes creams, lotions and taking care of yourself are not enough to ward off wrinkles. Sometimes other forms of treatment are necessary to help you feel and look better.
After trying skincare products and meeting with their dermatologist on several occasions, some people still want quicker results to reduce the appearance of wrinkles or to get rid of them completely. Botox and Dermal Fillers are non-surgical methods to smooth wrinkles, while facelifts and forehead lifts give people a surgical method to remove wrinkles.
